On February 5, 2020, the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development (IEED) announced that 21 American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes were awarded Native American Business Development Institute (NABDI) grants totaling $727,229.
Two of the awards went to Tribe’s pursuing energy-related businesses:
The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa was awarded $33,400 to investigate the feasibility of starting a commercial wood boiler manufacturing business on the Band’s reservation in Carton County, Minn.
The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe was awarded $38,000 to explore the expansion of its existing propane program.
