Our Approach

We focus on weaving together the key aspects of successful Tribal energy planning and development. Our approach to working with Tribes is defined by the following:

  1. Purposeful planning and execution that is driven by a Tribal Strategic Energy Plan

  2. Integrated energy decisions that address Tribal governance, culture, peoples, economy, and land

  3. Seamless transitions from strategic planning, to detailed feasibility analyses, to implementation, to on-going management

  4. Cross-functional team members and partners with significant experience across the technical, economic, and legal/regulatory factors associated with Tribal energy development

  5. Collaborative approach to performing work that focuses on empowering the Tribe

  6. Objective analysis and recommendations. We are not incentivized to promote a specific solution. Our primary objective is to provide long-term value to the Tribe.

Our approach helps your Tribe avoid the pitfalls of disjointed energy planning and development:

  • Energy decisions that are not aligned with Tribal priorities and values

  • The Tribe has limited control over energy decision-making

  • There is no Strategic Energy Plan that provides a roadmap for energy projects

  • The Tribe approaches each energy investment as a “one-off” project

  • Turnover in leadership causes energy planning and execution to stall

  • There are long delays between strategic planning, feasibility, and execution

  • Recommendations don’t address all technical, economic, and legal aspects

  • The Tribe relies heavily on outside help rather than internal Tribal capacity

  • Energy planning and economic development are not synced

  • Departments within the Tribe don’t have an integrated energy strategy
